How the atlas explains it

The battle was short because the campaign was long. Kangxi moved three armies across steppe that could not feed them, carrying grain forward in depots and camel trains, and the achievement was arriving at all. ⚠ THIS IS A LOGISTICS VICTORY WEARING A BATTLE'S CLOTHES — the Qing state could project and supply force across the grassland, and the Dzungar confederation could not do the same against it. That capacity, not the fighting, is what ended two millennia of the steppe holding the advantage over settled empires.

What followed

The moment the balance between steppe and sown reverses permanently. Gunpowder logistics, not gunpowder weapons, did it. ⚠ The final Dzungar destruction came in 1755-58 and is absent from this atlas.
